Sound Factory Tokyo is a creative audio studio built around one simple idea, that great sound starts with great listening. We specialize in composition, sound design, and mixing for film, TV, advertising, and online content.
Founded by British audio professional Nick Clegg, and fluent in both English and Japanese, we work with directors, agencies, and artists who care about the detail.
Nick Clegg
COMPOSER < SOUND ENGINEER & PRODUCER
Nick is the founder of Sound Factory Tokyo and a composer and audio engineer with over a decade of professional experience.
Trained at the School of Sound Recording in Manchester and holding a BSc in Sound and Video Technology from the University of Salford, he has worked across composition, sound design, and post-production for clients including TOHO, Netflix, Disney, BBC, Nissan, and Yamaha.
His background as a performing musician shapes everything he does, great sound, to him, always starts with the music.
Miho abe
PRODUCER < MANAGER
Miho is the producer and client liaison at Sound Factory Tokyo.
Fluent in both English and Japanese, she is the bridge between creative ambition and smooth delivery, bringing a background in video production and event coordination, and a genuine warmth that makes even the most pressured projects feel manageable.
She also happens to be a qualified acupuncturist, which has come in unexpectedly useful on more than one tense production day.
yokohama studio
Our Yokohama studio is built to handle anything a project demands and refined continuously to stay that way.
At the heart of the setup is a Pro Tools MTRX Studio HD Native with Amphion monitors configured for stereo, 5.1, and Dolby Atmos mixing.
For composition and sound design we draw on a deep library of analogue, digital, and modular synthesisers alongside software instruments from Arturia, Spectrasonics, and Spitfire Audio, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra Professional.
Dialogue restoration and noise reduction runs through iZotope RX11 Advanced, with processing from UAD and FabFilter.
The tools are here so you don't have to think about them.
Amphion 7.1.4 monitoring
We chose Amphion speakers for their renowned precision and accuracy in reproducing audio, delivering an honest and transparent sound. This clarity allows us to make informed decisions throughout the mixing process and ensures our work translates seamlessly across a variety of playback systems and environments.
